“I am diagnosed with bipolar, c-ptsd and anorexia and these issues have impacted my life greatly.
My symptoms of bipolar started I think roughly around age 11/12 and I wasn’t diagnosed up until recently. It had a major impact on my education, friendships and overall life in general. It took 4 misdiagnoses, 3 different psychiatrists before I was finally diagnosed and on the right treatment. I take medication daily to manage my symptoms and attend regular therapy to help battle my ptsd and anorexia.
I was diagnosed with anorexia at 15 and it was the hardest thing for me to hear, but a step in the right direction for me to better my life, as I was missing out on so much due to disordered eating. Knowing how much I missed out on, makes me choose recovery every single day.
I recently set up an Instagram account to help me cope with my mental health issues and to spread awareness of a very stigmatised, misunderstood mental illness and it has been a great help to me and showed me that I am not alone. All the support I’ve received has been a great help to me and I am so grateful for it.
The best advice I could offer to anyone is: don’t be afraid to ask for help, it can majorly better you in the long run and it doesn’t make you weak to ask for help, it makes you human. I waited so long to do it and it affected my life to an extreme degree, no one should suffer in silence.”
